about the designer
Des Hahn is a new name to the Chicago theatre world of scenic artistry. Their focus is on curating the finishing elements that elevate the world of a production. She believes that each detail can hold a story about the characters on stage and the world that they exist in, visually informing the audience alongside the story being told on stage. One of their favorite moments of a project is finishing paint details on a scenic design. With every new wash of color, another layer of the story is created - these are the moments that inform her work.

Des Hahn has designed the scenery for several productions at North Central College. Recent work includes digital/virtual Scenic Design for Fight Girl Battle World (2020), collaborative Scenic Design for Antigone (2020), and Scenic Charge Artist for The Toxic Avenger (2020). Other design credits include Puppetry Design for Fight Girl Battle World (2020), Prop Design for Spring Awakening (2019), Prop Design for A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2019), Hair/Makeup Design for Wellesley Girl (2019), and Production Design for Rocky Horror Picture Show (2019). They have filled the role of Assistant Scenic Design for I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (2018), The Flick (2018), and The Laramie Project (2018). Des is a senior studying Theatrical Design & Technology, Studio Art, and Film.
